The Middle is back on Netflix, and I am happily rewatching it yet again. I first discovered the show during the COVID lockdowns, and it kept me company through those long, isolated days. Over the years, I kept searching for it on different platforms, and every time it was missing, I realized just how much I enjoy watching it. The show has always been part of my comfort watching list. So if you are ready, let’s see why it deserves a spot on your watchlist too.

Plot Overview:

The show follows an ordinary middle‑class family of five living in Orson, Indiana. Frankie and Mike Heck, along with their kids Axl, Sue, and Brick. Each of them has their own quirks which along with the everyday chaos makes it funny, warm and relatable. Each episode beautifully captures both the frustrations and the joys of family life.

The Cast and the Backdrop:

The cast truly feels like a real family, imperfect, yet full of heart. Patricia Heaton brings warmth and humor as the mother trying to hold everything together, while Neil Flynn balances her energy with his dry wit. The kids add their own charm: Axl with his teenage antics, Sue with her endless optimism, and Brick with his quirky habits. Together, they make the show funny, relatable, and charming.

The backdrop is modest yet memorable, a small town, a simple home, and everyday imperfections that keeps the show grounded. The household and surroundings feel authentic, making the story easy to connect with.

What makes it special:

What I love most about the show is that you don’t have to wait around for a big twist or climax. You can pick any episode at random and still get a glimpse into the family’s life at that moment. That makes it such an easy comfort watch, even on days when your mind is elsewhere, you can just sit back, tune in, and feel part of the family. The whole series is told with honesty and heart.

Who Should Watch It:

The show is for anyone who believes in the magic of ordinary life. It lets you pause, breathe, and enjoy the small moments. If you’re looking for an escape from big twists and cliffhangers, and want something slow but never boring, The Middle is definitely the show for you.

Watching the show always restores my faith in the beauty of ordinary life, which even with its ups and downs is extraordinary in its own way. It comes with a beautiful lesson that life can be messy, imperfect, and yet still full of moments that make it worth celebrating. I would love to know if you enjoyed watching the show and if it made it to your comfort watchlist, share your thoughts about the show in the comments, I would love to read them.
