The Power of Creating: Shipra’s Dance Journey
“Tightly hold on to the people around you if you want to go far”. The words feel perfect for someone who is holding together a 900K strong Youtube family. Based in Gurugram, India, Shipra, the creator behind Shipra’s Dance Class, loves spending her days moving between dance classes and producing content that makes grooving easy for people across the globe.
Over the years, I have enjoyed watching Shipra’s journey up close. So when we reached out to her, I didn’t expect any surprises. But I was happy to be wrong. Our conversation gave me a completely new perspective on her work and passion. Her story is a beautiful reminder that creativity, when shared generously, has the power to build not just an audience base, but a family.
And, here’s what she wants every reader to know:
What do you create?
“I create Dance Tutorial Videos on YouTube. My goal has always been to make dancing easy for everyone, irrespective of there age, cultural backgrounds or experience level. I try to keep my videos simple and easy to follow but at the same time full of energy. For me my videos are a medium to build a community, where people can express themselves with confidence.”

When did you start, and what inspired you to begin?
“I have always enjoyed dancing. But my YouTube journey started in 2017,and that’s when things changed for me. My husband played a huge role in inspiring me, always supporting me in every way possible, he has been standing by me since my very first video. A simple push from him brought me here, he is the very reason I am here now, and able to share what I enjoy doing with everyone.”
Does anyone in your family or surroundings do something similar?
“I always had people around me who enjoyed dance as an art form, but I was the first in my family to start creating content on YouTube. In a way, I have inspired many of my family members to explore content creation themselves. Seeing them make there own content makes me proud and excited. It is a special feeling seeing how my journey encouraged the people around me to also pursue there passion.”

What have you learned through your creative journey?
“Every one of us has a creative side, but only those who put effort in exploring it and truly work towards polishing it gets rewarded. Creativity will always ask for hard work, consistency, and patience. Showing up again and again even when the progress is slow is the real test but the efforts you put in can take you to places you would have never imagined.”
What advice would you give to someone who is just starting?
“Keep working, especially on days when you don’t feel motivated. Today when I look back, I regret the times I didn’t show up just because I was waiting for motivation. Motivation only lasts a couple of days, after that it is consistency that will keep you going. So keep creating, keep pushing forward every day, and don’t be afraid to try new things, experiment and explore to find what works for you.”

What keeps you going when you feel stuck or uninspired?
I turn to my friends and my husband for support whenever I feel stuck, it always helps to lean on them. At the same time, my audience has always been a huge source of inspiration. Every time I feel like giving up their encouragement and love give me the reason to keep going. Knowing that people are waiting to see what I create motivates me to come back, and continue sharing what I enjoy creating.”
