Platonic: More Than Just a Friendship Story

Rating: 4 out of 5.

If, like me, you’re in a phase where life feels a little in-between—career, relationships, identity—this show hits in a very specific, comforting way. It’s the kind of watch that makes you pause and think about your own friendships, the people you’ve drifted from, and the ones who somehow still stick around through all the chaos.

It gives you the space to accept that not everything has to be perfectly figured out—that it’s okay to be a bit unsure, a bit messy, and still find your way. And maybe that’s why it works so well. It doesn’t try to fix anything or give you big answers—it just lets you sit with that in-between feeling, and somehow makes it feel a little lighter.

The show follows two former best friends—played by Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen—who reconnect in their 40s. At first, it feels like it might turn into a typical will-they-won’t-they situation, but very quickly it transitions into something far more real: a messy, chaotic, but at the same time deeply relatable adult friendship.

At no point does the comedy feel forced—it just naturally comes from moments that feel almost too real. Crossing boundaries, making slightly questionable choices, trying to hold on to a version of yourself that doesn’t quite fit anymore. And even in the middle of all that chaos, there’s a certain warmth to it—the kind that quietly reminds you why these connections matter in the first place.

Honestly, if you’re looking for something that feels real without being too heavy, this is definitely worth watching. It’s not perfect, it’s not trying to be—and maybe that’s exactly what works for it. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out, no neatly wrapped conclusions—just moments that feel honest and familiar.

While we patiently wait for the Season 3 announcement, you can still watch Seasons 1 and 2 on Apple TV+.

If this piece has made you even a little curious, I’d say just give it a watch—you might find yourself relating to it more than you expect.

If you’ve already seen it, tell me your favorite moments! And if you’re planning to watch it soon, I’ll be waiting to hear what you think 😊
